Message from the Chair of the International Nuclear Societies Council (INSC)

Dear colleagues and distinguished members,

It is both an honor and a responsibility to address you as Chair of the International Nuclear Societies Council (INSC), at a time when the role of nuclear science and technology is more critical than ever for our shared global future.

Across the world, we are facing unprecedented challenges—climate change, energy security, sustainable development, and the need for resilient healthcare systems. In this context, nuclear science stands as a powerful and versatile solution. From clean energy production to medical applications, from food security to industrial innovation, our field continues to demonstrate its essential value to society.

INSC represents a unique global platform that brings together nuclear societies from all regions, fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and professional excellence. Our strength lies in our diversity, our expertise, and our shared commitment to advancing nuclear science for peaceful and beneficial purposes.

As Chair, my vision is centered on four key priorities:

  • Strengthening global collaboration by enhancing partnerships among member societies and international organizations;
  • Empowering the next generation by supporting young professionals and fostering leadership development;
  • Promoting trust and transparency by engaging with the public and communicating clearly about the benefits and safety of nuclear technologies;
  • Advancing gender parity and inclusion by promoting equal opportunities, supporting women’s leadership, and ensuring a more diverse, inclusive, and representative nuclear community.

We must also continue to uphold the highest standards of safety, security, and non-proliferation, which are the foundation of public confidence and the sustainable development of nuclear programs worldwide.

In a rapidly evolving world, innovation will be key. Advanced reactors, small modular reactors (SMRs), nuclear applications in hydrogen production, and cutting-edge medical technologies offer new opportunities for progress. INSC will actively support dialogue and cooperation in these emerging areas.

Let us work together to ensure that nuclear science continues to contribute to a more peaceful, sustainable, and prosperous world. Through unity, expertise, and shared values, we can amplify our collective impact and inspire future generations.

I look forward to working closely with all of you in this important mission.

Yours sincerely,
BENDAM Khadija
2026 Chair
International Nuclear Societies Council (INSC)
